HEARING
AID BATTERIES
- Before
inserting the battery, always double check that it is the correct size
and type for your hearing aid.
- Your batteries
will last longest if they are removed at night. Batteries should be
removed when your hearing aids are placed in the hearing aid saver or
Dri-Aid Kit.
- If you
cannot wear your hearing aid for a period of time, be sure to remove
the battery so it will not corrode the battery contacts.
- Hearing
aid batteries will only last ten to fourteen days at best. Some patients
report a "motor boating" sound before their hearing aid batteries
quit; high technology hearing aids may beep to indicate a low battery.
DANGER!
Hearing aid batteries can be hazardous if swallowed.
- Keep batteries
out of reach of children and persons of mental incapacity.
- Never
change batteries in front of these individuals.
- Discard
batteries carefully. Do not burn them or put them in the trash where
children or pets can get them.
- Always
check medication before swallowing to ensure that the battery has not
been mistaken for a pill.
If a battery
is swallowed, call the HOTLINE collect at: 202-625-3333
REMEMBER: When you place your battery in the hearing aid door correctly,
the door will close easily. Do not try to force the door closed. This
may result in damage. Refer to your instruction manual or call your audiologists
if you experience any difficulty.
