Hearing Aid Care & Maintenance > Telephone Use
When you hold the telephone too close to your hearing aid, it may cause the hearing aid to whistle. The important thing to remember when using the telephone is to hold the receiver at an angle slightly away from your ear. This allows the hearing aid to work properly. If you experience frequent difficulties on the telephone, ask your audiologist about a telephone switch for your hearing aid. When turned on, the telephone switch picks up (only) the electromagnetic signal from the telephone. This prevents feedback and external interference from occurring.
Ask your audiologist about the many Assistive Listening Devices for the telephone.
